Taro Boba Popsicle: The Best Treat This Summer

Taro boba popsicle is a refreshing treat for this summer. It is delicious, and the boba pearls add a chewy texture, making this popsicle even more enjoyable. This recipe is easy to make at home and only requires simple ingredients; two packets of taro instant boba kit. I picked it up from a local store, but you can also find it here on Amazon.

What is Taro?

Taro is native o Southern Asia and is a starchy root vegetable.

Taro vs. Ube:

Taro has white or light purple roots, while ube, aka purple yam, is native to the Philippines and has purple roots.

Ube has excellent benefits, containing potassium, similar to potatoes, and high levels of vitamins A and C. Taro is exceptionally high in fiber and manganese, vitamin B6, and potassium.

Taro is often widely used in savory dishes, while ube has a distinct and sweet flavor, making it perfect for desserts.

Making taro boba popsicles is easy, and you can use a taro boba mix to save time. Here is a simple recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 2 packs of taro milk tea powder
  • 2 packs of brown sugar boba
  • 1 1/2 cups of water

Kitchen Tools:

  • Pot
  • Spatula
  • Bowl, preferably with a spout for easy transferring.
  • Silicone popsicle mold

Instructions:

  1. In a pot, bring the water to a boil.
  2. Once the water is ready, transfer the water into a bowl with a spout. Add the taro powder, and mix well.
  3. Add the boba pearls to the taro mixture and mix well—microwave for 1 minute.
  4. Spoon some boba pearls into the silicone popsicle mold, and evenly pour the taro mixture into each mold (leave room for the rest of the boba pearls, do not overfill the mold).
  5. Evenly add the boba pearls to each popsicle mold. Add the popsicle stick lids.
  6. Freeze for at least 4-6 hours or overnight.
  7. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • For a richer flavor, use milk instead of water.
  • For a sweeter taste, add more sugar to the mixture
  • For a chewier texture, add the boba to the boiling water before adding the taro mixture.
