The Best Two Flatbread Recipes

My mom is currently out of the country and enjoying the Philippines with my grandmother and dad. So, for the last few years, we’ve been skipping the restaurant and enjoying a delicious meal at home on Mother’s Day. My mother inspires me to be the best version of myself, even when I sometimes don’t feel like it. She is my idol and the bravest and strongest woman I know, and I wish to be just like her for my kids. I will miss her this upcoming Mother’s Day, but I know she is enjoying her time with her siblings back home in the Philippines. So, since they are out of the country, my boys plan to take me out and enjoy the warm weather and some of my favorite foods. 

Pizza Crust by Brooklyn Bred:

This is my favorite pizza crust! It is made with 00 pizza flour, and it tastes perfect! I found this pizza crust from our local Safeway store. If this is not available, feel free to use another brand.

What does 00 flour mean?

The symbol 00′ in Italy denotes the most refined, powder-soft specialty flour. It’s the preferred flour of artisan pizzaiolos, which compete to create a light crust that is crisp on the outside but tender to the bite.

Impossible Italian Sausage

Flatbread Recipe 1: Impossible Italian Sausage

  • 1 Flatbread Pizza Crust (store-bought)
  • 2 Impossible Italian Sausage
  • Up to 1/2 cup Marinara sauce
  • 6 oz Fresh Mozzarella
  • Chopped Basil (garnish)

What to do?

  1. If using frozen impossible Italian sausage, thaw under refrigeration. Once completely thawed, spray cooking oil in the skillet. Brown the sausages on all sides. Once done, remove the sausage casing. Cut the sausages into circular pieces and set aside.
  2. Preheat the oven to 375F.
  3. Prep the Pizza crust, add cooked sausage link on top of it, and spread them around. 
  4. Add the fresh mozzarella, and spread them around the crust.
  5. Add marinara sauce all over the sausage and mozzarella cheese with a brush or spoon. 
  6. Bake for 7-8 minutes.
  7. Garnish with chopped Basil, serve immediately, and enjoy!

FYI: Bake directly in the oven for a crispier crust, or bake on top of a baking pan for a chewier finish. All up to you; both ways taste amazing.

Mozzarella & Pesto

Flatbread Recipe 2: Mozzarella and Pesto

  • 1 Flatbread Pizza Crust (store-bought)
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil + Italian herb seasoning
  • 6 oz Fresh Mozzarella
  • Up to 1/4 cup Pesto Sauce
  • Chopped Basil (garnish)

What to do?

  1. Preheat the oven to 375F.
  2. Prep the Pizza crust, mix olive oil and Italian herb seasoning, and brush the mixture over the crust.
  3. Add the fresh mozzarella cheese on top.
  4. Bake for 7-8 minutes.
  5. Once baked to perfection, add the pesto sauce to the melted mozzarella cheese, and garnish with chopped Basil on top.
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy!

  • 2 links Impossible Italian sausages (Cook prior to baking)
  • 1/2 cup Marinara sauce
  • 6 oz Fresh Mozzarella
  • 2-3 leaves Basil, chopped (For garnish)

  • 1 tsp Italian herb seasoning
